Artwork Care

  1. Avoid direct sunlight

This is a no brainer. Of course you need your artwork to be hung in some good looking light, just make sure you avoid direct sunlight. This goes for any artwork you own- print or original. If you are worried, or it is unavoidable, find a framer who can provide you with UV- protected glass! Slip, slop, slap isn't just for skin!

  2. Temperature

Avoid exposing your artwork to moisture, humidity/dampness or extreme heat. We all want to avoid mould, and so do your artworks!

  3. Unpacking

Until you are ready to frame your artwork, keep it in the packaging to protect it. Unless it is rolled (A2+ prints) as they need to flatten. The longer they’re left in packaging, the harder they are to flatten. A good reason to frame it as soon as you buy it! (Don’t worry, I am guilty of still having artworks laying around that need to be framed…)

  4. Framing

Ever seen an artwork on a wall and thought “damn, that artwork is amazing!”? Often, it’s because of the way it has been framed. Not only does a quality frame protect the artwork (from those things mentioned in 1 & 2 and dust) but it will make your artwork shine! Although custom framing can be expensive, I’ve never once regretted doing it. If you are looking for more affordable options, look for frames with glass. Some of my budget friendly options come from Country Road and Spotlight.
